Default outlaw and pred

so im trading my 800 in on either a 05 pred TLD, 06 pred TLD, or an outlaw

i really have my mind set on the TLD because i like the transmition and i just like the solid rear, id like to have the ground clearence of the outlaw, but i cant really justify for it. so now it comes out to power for me. i really plan on hopping this pred up to the max, like everything, this is going to be my drag king.

anyhoo, i know that the pred puts out 42 HP at the rear wheels, but ive heard that the outlaw puts out 50?

also, is there any real change other than plastics between the 05 TLD and the 06 TLD?

thanks guys

Your comparing crank hp (50) to rear wheel hp(42), the output will be similar between the two. Not sure on the changes, nothing major. Reverse lockout is moved to the bars from the frame. If your going heavy into mods I'd go with the Pred unless you want to stress test the rear cv joints for the rest of us to see what kind of abuse they will take lol.

I've said it before, I'll say it again OUTLAW!! Based on the people that have ridden, it seems like it will be the ultimate trail bike. Let's face it, there isn't a lot of ATV drag racing around here.

I should have really thought about the type of riding that I would be doing prior to buying the Pred. I probably would have waited for the Outlaw. You get the best of all worlds. The Preddy is awesome. But, on rocky trails and creek beds, it can be brutal.

Where do you normally ride? Have you been to any of the ORV parks with the 800 yet? Have you ridden several hours continuosly yet. Would the ground clearance be of benefit? All questions that I would ask myself.

Keep in mind, the Outlaw would be easy to upgrade right off the bat. If you do decide to go with the Preddy, definitely consider the LE. The tranny is really very good with the standard ratios. I can only imagine how much stronger it would be with a few mods. Needing to shift MORE frequently, IMO, is not necessarily a good thing unless you are on a MX track. You gotta get out to one of the riding areas nearby to ride.

well since your live here, imagine giant feild with trees, creek, open ground, and lots and lots of pavement to go crazy with. im stuck on the TLD, so dont try to change my mind, lol

ground clearence isnt needed, but id like to have it, but if i can get an aluminum skid, then i should be fine as far as protection

i need to know now though if i should wait for an 06 TLD or go for an 05 TLD

I don't think there are any differences between the 05 and 06 (Jeremy can confirm), so buy the 05, save money and double the warranty. I won't try to change your mind on the TLD, but why are you stuck on that? Have you ridden Preds with both trannys?

BTW...I am going to Buck's Run again in the AM with a buddy. Hopefully they got some rain to keep the dust down.

to give an idea of amount of riding, its pretty much 50% road, 30% trails, 15% MXing, 5% sitting

theres no difference between the 05 and 06 tld pred, only the colors and the frame is black i think i have a picture of it up in my pictures.

as for the outlaw,it's hard to say where it will fit in,but it can tell you this,,before i saw it in person i thought it's a oldman trail quad.Boy wasdra i wong. That thing rocks and will suprise everyone. it is 50 hp and the pred is i think 42hp, it's not all the same engine.the head on the outlaw is different and so is the header pipe.the trans is a close ratio tranny but 5th was moved closer to 4th.I don't believe it will be a good g quad but even top polaris guys said that it handles way better then the pred.As a matter of fact MATT SMILEY will be racing it in some of the next few gncc races.EVEN HE FEELS IT WILL BE A GREAT RACE QUAD FOR GNCC.
