I have only raced 2 yfz's and I beat one and one beat me. I have raced 4 450R's and beat everyone of them, and I beat them bad. They all was piped. You also can ask Troyer23J about the 450R's we beat at Hatfield & McCoys, I think he was out there when we was racing. And maybe ask Kahnman he was beat on his HPD Race Quad.

i've ride regularly with a guy on an '05 YFZ, it's close through the first 3, but i pull ahead a little more each gear, by the time i hit 4th, his front tires are just behind my rear, then 4th gear comes on the pipe, and boom, race over. that seems pretty consistent too. My LE has the white bros. pipe, (for those who don't know that) and i regularly knock out my buddies '05 TLD also. oh, ran against a Z-400 too with a guy who wouldn't get off my back... hehe, silly Z-400's

i just got back from pismo with my buddy who has an 04 honda 450r with elka shocks, nothing for power, I just got a new predator 500 tld, stock, we were both running sand stars in the reaer. we raced up this one hill. I thought I was gonna get killed. He would get the jump in first gear, then I would catch him once I hit secound , and it was neck and neck for the rest of the race. I won 2, he won 2, and we tied 1, we couldn't decide who's quad was fastest. That was also my first time riding my pred since I broke it in, so 'm not 100% with that close ratio tranny. By the way we weigh the same.

KMO - How do you like the TLD, specifically the close gear ratio in the dunes? Not just racing but tearing around the dunes as well, and hill climbing. I ride Pismo at least couple times a year, and Oregon hopefully as much (now theres some dunes). I had an 04 TLD with old gear ratio and always thought a little tighter gear box would be nice, but havent seen too many positive reviews on it. Planning on getting an 05 or 06 pretty quick, just wondering how you like that gear box.

From 1rst to 4rth it is awesome. Most of the time I was in fourth, but fifth is kinda a problem, on an incline it won't pull it, it will just stay where it is in the rpm's, and no more. On flat or down hills its no problem. I'm going to get a rev box to up the shifting points, which should more then take care of the problem. I'mn also gonna throw a yoshimura carbon pipe on there too, just make sure. For tearing up the dunes it was awesome. There was no hill it could't climb, and the shocks were super smooth and still absorbed huge air without a sweat.
