Default 2 cycle oil in gas of Sportsman

I brought my SP 500 in for the new ECM on a recall. the mechanic told me that I had a couple drops of fuel coming out the overflow tube. He said it was probably a little fuel getting by the needle valve or something like that in the carburator. The mechanic and the service manager both said the gas in Connecticut has additives in it and can cause problems or something like that. Anyway getting to my point. They said I could run a half an ounce to an ounce of 2 cycle oil in my gas and that would help lubricate the needle valve. Has anyone ever heard of this??? They said not more then an ounce of two per tank full because it will have the adverse effect.

I'd say they are full of it. The 2 stroke oil isn't going to hurt your engine, but it isn't going to solve the problem. Clean or replace the needle valve and fix it the right way.

If you use premix in a 4 stroke engine on a regular basis it WILL stick the rings to the piston.

You would have to use a heck of a lot of 2 stroke oil to stick the rings. Why don't the rings stick on a 2 stroke then?
