The starbucks story is hilarious! Made it to Vegas and the truck got less than 10mpg. Oh well, we're having fun and the wife won some money last night. Gas is cheap here compared to AZ, about $2.79. No lines to wait in either.

Nope, gotta go. The rising price of gas is just another inconvienence in a world of inconvienences. It sucks, but that's life.

I hear ya, Stormy. I live in the "LAND OF INCONVENIENCE" (English for Massachusetts).

I offset the cost of fuel by making sure I avoid paying state sales tax. Shop online, or in New Hampshire. This state screws the working class every day with it's outrageous cost of living.

I'm just giving a bit of screwin' back!!

Bush(press.) is not going to step in any time soon! He is making millions from this. I feel it is a conflict of interest but thats just my(and about several million other americans) opinion. That is why he has no plans to lower the price on gas. I may still go to the cliffs on monday, no reason to change for a close trip(35min.), the increase will only add a couple of dollars to the trip.

I don't plan on donating either, still upset with the way 911 donations went. If you do donate make sure it is only to the red cross! There are to many people that run scams when stuff like this happens! Just be carefull to who you give your money too!

I didn't even make my plans until after the price gouging started. Friday I just felt like going and getting a new wheeler so I drove a little over 3 hours to NY to get an 06 ltz400. Nobody has them in stock here and they're $800 cheaper where I went. But the prices are ridiculous. Our gov't should definetely put a cap on the prices and cut their taxes. Look at all the crap they gave Bill Gates for his "monopoly". Just cause he developed an excellent product that everybody wanted. There are other operating systems to choose from out there so why was that a monopoly? Our gov't probably makes more money off the gas than Gates makes off microsoft. And microsoft actually develops and updates it's product. What the hell does our gov't do for gas but tax it and their only updates are to jack the prices. Everytime tax is applied to a product it's passed on to the next consumer. I haven't researched it yet, but I was told that buy the time a gallon of gas reaches the end user 75% of the cost is tax. Usually the gas stations only make 1-2 cents per gallon. But with our current situation we are getting gouged by everybody right down to the stations. Supply v. Demand although here I don't think demand has risen, just fear fueling these surges and we're being taken advantage of. Too bad those accusations of going to war for oil weren't right cause we'd be paying a lot less right now.

The most retarded thing is that most of the gas in WI comes out of Minnesota, not the friggin Gulf coast. This is bull.

With a lifted 87 Silverado and a nearly-restored 72 Chevelle that both get around 10 mpg, my new Corolla more or less pays for itself. The more gas costs, the more I save driving it every day. Just took a trip and got 35 mpg @ 80 mph over about a 5 hour period. Slower speeds close in on 40, around town with A/C and hard driving always yields 30.

I just took a 1350 mile trip out to my sisters in Iowa. Brought my ATV's because there is plenty of room to ride. Fuel costs for my Explorer and trailer $250. Hours riding 8. Cost per hour to ride=PRICELESS. I had my best ride to date on my Scrambler and was the fastest quad out. If I had broke down or had any problems on the trip I would have been bitching and complaining but it really is hard to complain with a big 'ol Polaris grin.
