It should work, my 2000 scrambler wrench works on my 2002 sp700.
The diff in shocks is the long travel rezzie on the fox shox.

I got a spanner wrench with my 02 Scrambler but its more of a pain than its worth. I just grab the spring with both hands and turn it.

Be carefull. Those things are easy to break and they are a major pain to replace.
