EFI sure is nice, no jetting for temp extremes or changes in elevation. But for that much cash, I'd go for the carb version. You can't go wrong either way.

I would say go with the 2005 carb, save yourself some money plus with it being the first year for the efi there might be some problems to work out.

Hope this helps

if its like the 700 the carb model cant hold a candle to the efi. theres a world of difference in the power and throttle responce. that alone is worth waiting on the efi.

It is a mistake for the average guy to want EFI on an ATV.

The only thing it will do for you is cause you major problems in the future.

It will be problems that the average guy or many repair shops can't fix so that means many trips back to your dealer. Trips to the dealer add up to a bunch of money.

If you are the average guy that does not really know and understand EFI and have the ability to work on it yourself and you work for a living and can't afford expensive repair bills get the one with the carb.

I do this kind of thing for a living and I understand EFI but you could not give me a Polaris with EFI if I had to keep it and maintain it.

So you would rather have a carb pick-up than something with EFI?

Modern EFI is EXTREMELY reliable. You likely won't need to work on it, even in the long haul. In addition to the benefits of better cold weather starting, better throttle response, better fuel economy, you can modify with an intake and exhaust without the need to rejet.

To answer the original question, I would get an 05 700EFI. The incentives make them a GREAT buy and value. Just my 2 cents.

Modern EFI is very reliable on SOME cars and trucks. It is a different story on an ATV that is used in the water and mud in the woods.

Where is Columbia? I am up near Louisville.

I would agree with your statment. However, EFI has been out on the Polaris for a few years now and I read very few complaints or issues about it. It isn't too difficult to seal the unit. Don't get me wrong, there are some drawbacks. For example, if your battery is dead, you aren't going anywhere. For the most part, I think the EFI issues, FAR, outweigh the drawbacks.
