Default To add a lift or not?

Hi all have been thinking about adding a 1.5 to 2. inch lift to my 400sp,I won't be runing anything other than stock sive tires 25 inch tires.I have mudlites on it now.I just thought the more ground clearance would help me out sometimes. Is this a good or bad idea.Any info would be nice.Oh ya I was thinking about going with the High Lifter lift 1.5-2. inches. Thanks for eveyones time to.

I have the 26" itp 589's on my sportsman 500 (03) and I added a 2"lift to it. Initially I just put the front lift on to level the quad out. After flipping it three times in the woods I was laying around one night and it popped into my head that maybe i should have put the rear lift on it as well due to the factory engineers doing some math and minimizing the amount of weight thrown to the rear, etc. I put the rest of the lift on it and find that three guys I ride with who don't have lift but DO have the exact same tires will scrape the fenders when coming off a rise or slight grade when the shocks compress. The Quad looks great and the ride being affected is minimal if not at all. The lift primarily allows the tires to fit under the fenders. It dosnt liftyour quad off the ground any more, the tire height is the only thing that will do that. So one thing leads to another. I say do it, Its a relatively cheap mod that looks and works great. and you can do it yourself. No spring compressor is needed at all, somne instructions will tellyou otherwise. Goodluck!
