Default 01-Sportsman500 jetting after BigGun, K&N & Clutch

So this is my friends quad...I work on it for him when he does upgrades etc...

It has a K&N, Full BigGun and a big tire clutch. It seems lean to me. Have not done a plug chop on it yet. I am just wanting a place to start from first...Then will do a few plug chops.

I came up with maybe starting out with a 155 jet to start with stock being 145???...Thing is that I would rather get some solid information instead of guess work. If anyone has experience with this it would be great if you would share.

Thanks in advance.

If you're looking to dump more fuel in than you should move up in your jetting but do it in small doses, if you find that the plugs are fouling badly you will have to go leaner. My suggestion is move up to the 155 as a start. I have a 400 Sportsman and it's factory main is a 172.5 I have tried a 162 in it to try and get a little more snap but in the winter time the lean jetting makes it run poorly so keep climate changes and air density in mind too when doing this. Since the underwater eathquake in the Asian region happened the earth's axis has moved 5 degrees off center making the northern hemishpere have a higher air density per square inch which means richer jetting is necessary.

I'm not really looking to DUMP more fuel..I am looking to get a proper Jet in the carb so as not to pop the thing. Your 400 probably has a smaller carb which would explain the jet size. I am running a pair of 28MM carbs with 340 Jets in my Banshee...Unless its the same application it's not going to apply.

Thanks for the input.

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH...This makes things sooooo much easier.

So I was close...155 vs 157.5...Think I will just go with the 157.5 then.

Kudos
