2002 Polaris Sportsman 700...Good ATV?
#1
I found a 2002 Polaris Sportsman 700 4x4 for sale with 1400 Miles and 169 hours for $2500. I'm concerned that it's 2002, but is adult driven and pictures look clean. Any thoughts?

If this is on Ebay make darn sure it's not a scam. If they offer free shipping be suspicious cuz that is one of the tall tale signs.
The '02s were great (I had one). The only thing you might have to do is update the mechanical seal on the waterpump (they redesigned it in '03) if you see coolant coming from the weep hole. Also, there is a waterpump cover update for that. The original plastic one could sometimes warp and not sit right, so they have a kit to take care of that. Both of these are easy to do and do not cost too much. If you have a very nice dealer he may give you the parts for free as some dealers would do that back when the machines were not that old.

Depends where you ride. I sold mine for a DS 650. The SP700 had a great ride but was to heavy for the sand hills that I ride. It also was not the best handling quad I've ridden. If you are looking for a workhorse with a cushy suspension then go for it!

Thats a great deal!
I agree with Polaridoo.
I love mine and the only real problems not my fault was the waterpump cover (waranty covered) and a few Hall sensors ($42) for the speedo MPH.
Also replaced the carb adaptor/boot, watch for cracking.
Very dependable , never stranded, always starts!!!!

Sounds like a good deal. Ride it in loose sand or grass and check the AWD, make sure the 4X4 kicks in and disengauges like it should. Roost the rear tires in 2WD a couple of time, the AWD should not kick in and do not hit the AWD switch while the rear tires are spinning.
Have fun.

That price is too low. Find out why. I would take it to a dealer and have them examine it. Pay them one hour of labor to do it and you'll be happy you did. It could be in very bad condition or very good condition like Jimmy's.
You don't want to get it and then find out that it needs $2000 of work.
