Default Speedometers role in the AWD

Does anyone know how the speedometer controls the awd system. It looks like the ground wire (brown/white) from the hub coils is being opened by the speedometer? Otherwise the AWD system would be on anytime the switch is on and the transmission switches are made. Does anyone know for sure? I don't have a manual, so i don't know if there is any detailed info on the speedometer and how it works.

Default Speedometers role in the AWD

Well, on late model sportsmans, the speedo is the "brain" of the quad. It's role in AWD:

-sense whether or not AWD switch is on
-monitor override button
-sense which gear you are in (no AWD in N or P, in R only when OVERRIDE is pushed
-not engage AWD with rpm's greater than 3500

Your statements are correct, but all the tranny sensors and awd switch etc. go through the computer in the speedo.

A model year would help us verify this.
