Gator Gear
#11
bigred500, I got the fax today and it looks like the gator gear makes the ebs clutch just like the non-ebs clutch. I have a Scrambler 500 non-ebs drive clutch ordered for my 700 which will do basicly the same thing as the gator gear and I will lose ebs. I have heard you gain really nice low end with the non-ebs drive clutch and will let you know how it does it should be here this week.

Well I would like to have a 800 primary but I can't find one. I have called many dealers and all of them said they was back ordered. My 700 primary is shot and I need a clutch ASAP. I won the 500 Scrambler non-ebs primary off ebay for $76.00 brand new so I couldn't pass it up. A new 800 primary is $349.99 so I think I can live without the ebs.

OOOOhhh, I see. I didn't have a clue that the 800 primary was that expensive. So you think this gator gear would work the same as the 500 primary. Would you have bought the gator over the 500 primary if you had found out about it before? Oh yeah, I've got a 40mm carb off of a 2003 500HO on the way. Any tips to getting it dialed in would be greatly appreciated also.

Yea If my 700 clutch was good I would have thought about getting the gator gear. I think the gator gear should give you about the same results as a 500 scramber primary. Did you win the 40mm carb off ebay? I was going to bid on one for a spare that came off a 03 500 h.o. that was on ebay that ended yesterday. You will have to do some modifications to make the 40mm work. First you need to buy number 25 here so your choke cable will hook up. You will need to put a spacer on the throttle cable where it screws in to the carb so it don't screw into the cab to far. I used a small nut as a spacer and it worked great. You will need to redrill your carb mount unless you won that one off ebay that already has a mount on it. I have a 167.5 main jet with a 42.5 piolt jet and a dyno jet needle with the clip on the 3rd notch down. If you need any help tuning it in let me know I'll be here on the fourms somewhere.

Yes Sir, that was the one. I'm glad you didn't decide to bid on it. I did jump in right at the last minute with a suprise bid to win it, so I did play a little dirty. The number 25 link didn't work. I went on into the website and started looking at the carburetor. I guess if you could get the part #, I could do a part # search.

Bigred500, check out this website for more on the Gatorgear http://go-polaris.com/lakelandpower/. It is made and sold here in Wi locally, as is Mud magazine. I tried it along with a dalton clutch kit, but it made my 700efi bog badly on take off. with out the clutch kit I did like it much better than stock. I hardly needed low range! But I like the performance everywhere else better with just the Dalton primary clutch kit-from RCR. Dan.

Hey Sportsman, if you were me would you go with the gator gear or spend the extra $100 for this?
