Default help me buy a predator

thanks for the link to the info, sounding better and better, what about the spacing between 4th and 5th that they are talking about? is this noticeable on the 06? mostly i will be trail riding with this quad, but about 3-4 times a yr, we make the journey to wynokia, ok. to tear up the sand, and not sure if i like the idea of the gear spacing when im trying to rip across the dunes @ "W.F.O.). those of you with the 06 l.e. can you notice a spacing prob?

thanks
james

theres not a problem at all, but you can notice its there. the 06 LE will crawl away quickly from a stock raptor 660 and the 660 will catch up in 5th gear while the pred rebuilds revs.

the trick to this transmition is that you have to have the revs before hand in 4th gear before you can nock it into the powerband in 5th. you will love the TLD gearbox. but before you buy it, try that and a standard gearbox, and if you like the standard, try and snag an 05 LE as they had the standard gearbox

so you are saying that with the standard gearbox the spacing is more even, or less noticable anyway? it sounds like i will love it in the woods, and really my last quad was a 250 trailblazer and while it was modded fairly well, im pretty sure anything will feel like a vast improvement over what i had.....not sure ill like having to shift all the time, anybody know if rekluse plans on putting out a race auto clutch like the z-400 or the yahmaha 450?

I like the pipe on them. I also like the fact that in less than 5 minutes you can also tune it a bit for the type of riding you are doing. You take the plates out and it quiets the machine down while adding some low end to it. I've been doing some pretty rocky trails lately, so I dropped down to 2 plates and can putt around in 3rd all day, but it will still rev up when I ask it too. If you add plates it gets louder and adds to the top end. I only have the standard 8 right now, but it seems to me that most people are saying that running 12 is the sweet spot. I've heard of people running as many as 18, but you can get screws for it that accommodate up to 28.

Even with the 8 plates in it, it's got some serious POP-POP to it. There is no doubt she is a thumper. I can't imagine what that thing sounds like with 18 or even better yet 28 plates in it.

If you get the carb mod I told you about, and run the intake system(clamp on filter.....twin air)......then he reccomends you either don't run any plates, or you run the turn down tip on your pipe.

Those plates are more like "tuning plates" in my opinon. You are supposed to use them to get your quad running where it is supposed to.......jetting wise......
