400 cracked case what to do?

Yes ,this is very common.Look at my pic's i bet it looks just like the one you have.Call Ritter Cycle, you can get brand new case halves with bearings and seals for around $300.HPD sells a reinforcement plate that takes care of this problem.Rick can probably weld this piece on for you as well. You really can't weld it that good because you can't get inside and get the penetration that you need, not to mention the top of the case halves need to be pretty true.Good luck.

I don;t know if it can be welded or not. as for why it cracked it has happend to some that are pushing high horsepower and no case saver. Once you get about mid 60's or higher on Horsepower the bottom end starts to become unreliable without some reinforcement.
What mods do you have? If the motor is mostly stock I don;t know why this happened.

I will ship you new cases and remove the bearings from them and deduct it from the price so you can use your practically new ones . I have the case savers and can install it for you here .

I had my crankcase and cylinder break with the trail mod. It is a very good idea to have the cylinder girdled and the crankcase saver from HPD put on if you are running a high horsepower engine.
