How do I disconnect the throttle and choke cable?
I've got an 04.5 SP500 and want to remove the carb but I can't get these two cables disconnected. It looks like you have to unscrew the butterflies from the shaft to get the throttle cable out. On the choke I can't get a wrench around the nut to unscrew the cable. Does anybody have any suggestions?

For the throttle cable take the three little screw out of the flat plate then twist the cable stop with a pair of needle nose plyers to get it out of the slot. The choke is easer to get when the carb is out of the boot first both are tricky but doable...

Like NB said do the throttle first. Once I got the throttle plate cover off I open the throttle from the throttle lever to spin the plate that the cable attaches to then I held it open with my finger and released the throttle lever which created slack in the cable and I was able to roll the cable off and around the plate. Once I disconnected this I was able to move the carb about half way out and get to the choke cable much easier. From there I was able to get a regular open ended wrench around it and remove the choke cable.
One trick I had to do when when putting it back together when I was screwing the throttle cable back in was to preload it by twisting it backwards to wind up the cable as without this the cable seemed to be too short didn't let the throttle completely close.
