Turf 2wd AWD questions for x2
I am purchasing an atv soon and i need to know exactly what each mode (Turf, 2WD, AWD) does wiht the X2 as far as what wheels move and different locking differentials. This is wat i have read. Turf=2WD with rear wheels unlocked 2WD= 2wd with rear wheels locked AWD=4wd with limited slip AND AUTOMATIC locking diff. Is that right or is the awd something different?

When in AWD the machine senses the back tire turning but not the front,I believe its like 1/8 or a turn of the back tires and this sends power(electrical)to the front to lock the hub.You will never feel it lock in so just suffice to say when you pick AWD you get all 4 tire getting equal power.Any ???

1.Ya pretty much.you will notice steering effort increase as the front gets power
2.Yes I do when I'm hunting
3.Turf applies power to 1 rear wheel only, you will notice when running on gravel thru corners that the rear end doesn't spit out on you
4.The hilliard clutch gets no power so no torque is transmitted to the front but everything is turning

CRFer2004; maybe this will help, when the awd switch is on you're 4-wheel drive standby mode, when the sensor detects rear wheel slipage or another way to put it rear wheels are turning faster than the front, the front wheels engage and when 4-wheel drive is no longer needed it goes back to 4-wheel standby mode, this does this automaticaly in and out as needed, both front wheels engage for true 4-wheel drive not like the others with one wheel in the air spining and the one on the ground doing nothing.... yes you can leave it on until god comes back or switch on and off at will. polaris claims wheel spin more than 20% more than the front will engage the front wheels, or 1/5 of a wheel rotation.............. sorry headsledracing didn't mean to jump in just thought i could help and i hope it did...........
