800 break in

Default 800 break in

I'M about to pick up my new 800, any suggestion on how to do the break in?

baby it for the first 2 tanks of gas, vary the RPMs alot and run it hard once or twice. change the oil and put it polaris synthetic 4stroke oil (0w40) and drive it like you stole it

Default 800 break in

He's right, vary the RPM's a bunch, never bog the engine (800 CC with a CVT will not have this problem tho) this means... probably no heavy work at first tho. also don't be afraid to open it up every once and a while through those first 2 tanks, just not often, and not for extended durations. like spyder says, only about twice should you really get into it.

Default 800 break in

The first two suggestions are right on. When breaking in my 700 I tried to keep the RPS below 5250 for the first two tank fulls. No magic to that number, it just felt right to me.
