Default Snow Plow

It's getting close to that time of year again, and I need sugestions
regarding using something other than the cable on my winch to lift the plow.
After a few uses the cable frays apart. Anybody got any thoughts? Do they make a synthetic rope small enough to work??

Thanks

I don't know how big of a boy you are......but I live on a farm, and we do our whole drive way, and in front of the shop(lots or area basically)........and ours is lifted by hand.......its not that hard to lift it by hand I think.........

I'm only 150lbs, so I'm sure you could do it too, but maybe you don't want to........

Anyways, we have a cycle country blade......it is great, works good, and has replaceable parts. It mounts pretty easy too(has a quick mount, that will allow dismount in about a minute).......It will work on other quads other than Polaris too, so that is a good option to have too.

Check my pics page, I think I have one of it on our sportsman........we added some round baler belt to the top so snow wouldn't go over the top.........

I replaced the cable on my winch with an Amsteel Blue winch rope. It's as strong or stronger then a cable and a lot harder to fray. If it does fray, it won't poke you like a cable. Another good thing is if you do happen to break it, you won't get the recoil like you would a cable. I've used it to pull myself out of some trouble spots and I've also pulled others out with it and it worked fine. I wouldn't hestitate to buy it again if I ever have too. I have a couple of pics of it in my gallery.

Dogboy,
i've found that the cable won't fray if when you lift the plow you don't bottom it out. lift it just enough off the ground. i found that if you crank it as far up as it will go, then YES, the cable will fray.
(i've been plowing with an ATV for 7 years.)

no second cable needed. give it a try!

Warn2000 cables i've found fray. the Warn2.5ci and 3.0ci don't using my method.
