Default '93 250 front struts

My '93 250 trailboss "knocks" when goin over humps. It seems my struts are worn out. Do I have to replace complete assembly or just the "cartridges". I saw some gas shocks on e-bay, but not sure that will work. Any ideas? (less expensive ideas!!). Thanks

You don't have to buy a complete strut assemby. There are strut cartridges available. Put a block under the front skid plate to support it. Loosen the strut hold down bolts and remove the whole unit. Compress the spring ( they're not very stout ) and un-screw the top of the strut. Remove the inner housing and dump out all the old fluid. The new cartridges will be self contained and will not need to be filled. Just slide in the new ones and put back together.

Thanks Thread. I looked on the net and found some shocks, but I don't know whether to buy the 1-1/2 inch or 1-5/8 inch diameter. My 250 Trailblazer (2x4) doesn't show up on the application. Any ideas on that? (I haven't taken the old ones off yet, or I could measure them). Thanks again.

Yeah you need to measure the diameter of the strut. Some years only had one possibility. There's several places on the internet to look up O.E.M. part numbers and specs through Polaris. It very well could be that your particular year and model is a one and only year. When you do look up the numbers just make sure you're on the right track. There's quite a bit of difference from a 250 Trail Boss and a 250 Trail Boss 2x4. Hope that helped and good luck. Ride on man!
