Default SHOCKS SQEAKING???

i have the 99 500 and whenever i get on it, the shocks seems to sqeak pretty loud. it seems when you get on the quad from the left side, you hear the left and when you throw your leg over to the right, you can hear the right. then as you sit down the sounds stops. any fix to this? it isnt causing any problems when riding, but i went riding Sat with about 10 other atvs and mine was the only one that did that noise, kinda embarrasing since they were all Hondas(no offense to Honda owners). thanks all

Default SHOCKS SQEAKING???

My fix for this problem with my scrambler was semi-involved... but what i did was to jack it up and remove the struts from their top mounts and lower the wheels to the floor, this exposed the rubber bushing, i went through this area and cleaned EVERYTHING then applied some marine grease to everything. This fixed the problem and it has not since returned. THe rear shock on my scrammy can be made not to squeak by removin it and cleaning it and its mounts. Typically, the sound i found was due to sand or mud getting in the mounts. (my preddy developed the sound recently... but since it's at the shop i haven't fixed it yet.)

it is almost always the pivot bushing. my r did it every time i washed it. metal to metal contact. i spray the entire bike with silicone after every ride once dry(cept seat and grips haha). easy cleanup AND no squeeks!!

I had an annoying squeak also, tried spraying all kinds of spots.. didn't find the problem for a while. I finally tracked it down to the bolts at each end connecting the sway bar square tube (that runs through the frame) were not exactly tight. I snugged them up and voila... no more noise. Just sometheing you can quickly check before tearing out the shocks etc.
