Hub fluid leaking...

I noticed after a hard ride that there was oil on my left front disk. The next day it had leaked as far as to fill the lower lip inside the rim of the tire. At first I thought it was brake fluid coming out of the galipers/piston but it looked more like Hub fluid.
Could this come from a broken seal? Is it hard to fix? I rode with it today because I could not keep myself off the Scrambler... It seemed fine. I still would like to change the seal though...If that's what it is.
Any ideas?? Thanks

Yep, you have a classic case of a bad hub seal. Personally, I don't find it hard to replace the hub seal. You have to take the hub and brake disc off to get the seal out and replace it. The seal is about a $12 part if I remember right. Just remember to clean your brake disc and brake pads with brake cleaner. And don't drive it without hub oil!

Thanks for the input jrssow!
I checked it again today and it did not loose any fluid during my ride yesterday. It was a bit "mucky" looking so I changed it again. I will have one more ride on it then change the seal this week.
Side question: Theoretically, if I leave it in 2x4 mode and have no hub fluid...will it still screw things up?
Thanks

There are four tapered wheel bearings in the hub that are lubricated by the hub oil. So, even in 2x4, there are still parts in the hub that need lubrication. Actually, the only part of the 4x4 system that requires lubrication is the hilliard clutch and that is only when the the front wheels engage and disengage.
