The closest thing I can find is a spot that says "W888528"

Certainly not long enough to find the 10th digit. I've looked all over (or so I think) the frame and this is the only number that I can come up with. I'm contemplating tossing it on a trailer and driving up to the dealership.

Success!

I was looking for a regular looking VIN, but it turns out they only had 7 digits then. It is a 1988 TB 250 R/ES.

Thanks for the effort guys, I appreciate it.

Now...how can I make it faster. >=)

you can start buy adding a pipe and clutch kit. having your cylinder ported and head shaved will really bring it alive. how much are you willing to spend?

Perhaps a better question is...how much is my wife willing to let me spend?

I've dropped a few bucks on my AC650 already this year, so I will probably have to wait until next summer. I am pretty sure the pipe & clutch will get approved, how much will that headwork run?

A good port job will probably run you $150-200

the boring and porting runs between 200-300 if you get it done by Rick Ritter or Hpd, depending on wether you go with a trail port or race port. i think bubba297 charges less but is highly regarded on the connection. the head milling runs 60. you can get a bigger carb, v-force 2 reed cage, have your flywheel lightened. also if you have port work done it's a good idea to get a girdle kit and definatley use a wiseco forged piston. it's best and cheaper if you buy a kit with everything included from the same place. if you go with a pipe and clutch kit first make sure it's gonna work with your other mods you plan to add later. check out www.rittercycle.com and www.hpd-inc.com for all the goodies at your disposal. i would call Rick Ritter and tell him what you want to do so he can steer you in the right direction.

It may be hard to find a pipe for a 1988 Trailboss.But for a cheap route try putting in a polaris green primary spring,K&N air fliter.Then freshen up the topend if it needs it.Porting would be optional if you CAN find a pipe.And this is not a reed valve engine so reed arent a option.Unless you want to drop a ton on a conversion.

Rick's site lists pipes for 250 trailboss. it doesn't say what years he makes them for.
