What I did when I mod'ed my 88 TrailBoss was to get a 1987 Cyclone pipe and elbow. This really woke up the TB for me.

I checked, ur R/ES and TB from that year uses the same pipe (2 pieces). If I remember right, U need 3 pieces to complete a Cyclone setup.

I forgot to mention this factor, If U do go to a new pipe, insure that U re-jet accordingly, or U will be putting in a new piston!

 

HEY i have a 1986 trail boss r/es that is my wifes try rebuilding top end put new piston in cleaned clutch carb runs like new i got mine for $200 with blown piston hers will do 56 that is stock all the way execpt 20 over and k&n filter
