More problems . . . sprocket this time
#1
Well if its not one thing its another. My 96 Xplorer was up on blocks for 2 wks getting a new starting motor, brakes, green spring, shoes, tires , thumb warmer and being prepped for winter.
Needless to say I was anxious to go for a run on Sunday. Just as I pulled away from the trailer I heard a "clunk" from under my right foot . . . I attributed it to a rock being kicked up from my new Execavators. Well, the first mud hole told me what the problem was . . . my middle chain was hanging from the front sprocket. A phillips and 7/16 wrench later I discovered that my rear middle sprocket (the one attached to the rear break disk) was GONE!! I removed the chain and continued on.
My eagle -eye wife found the sprocket back by the car. BAck at the garage it appears that the bolt holding the sprocket backed off and disappeared. I slipped the sprocket back on and there is about 1/16 - 1/8 inch "play" (rotating clockwise/counterwise) in that one and the same amount in the front middle sprocket.
Are they supposed to be like this or are they shot?
