how many volts without battery?

this may be a silly assed question, but here goes...
my quad doesn't have a battery... it's the old 87 cyclone 2-stroke. I'm just curious how many volts it creates while it's running. Could I put a small winch on the front of it and power it while the engine is running or would that not work. Also, I see they have starters on ebay for these things. I called the shop to ask about putting one on my quad which doesn't have one now. He said you can't do it. However, when I pulled the motor apart for the new bearings, piston, crank, etc... there was a blockoff plate bolted onto the case, a place for the nose of the starter, everything. I think I could throw a battery, starter, winch, etc on this thing pretty easily.
