Xplor, it rides & handles nothing like a stock Scrambler anymore. The stock is fine if you want to trail ride but I was trying get as close to a 4wd Banshee as I could get. It now it is tied to 6th gear w/ my friends high compression open air box Banshee. After he hits 6th gear he's gone, like right now. I lean over the front end & it still comes up. The handleing of the stock was WAY too tippy for any fast, serious cornering, jumping etc but now it is SO safe to drive at any speed I absolutly love it. High sidding NEVER enters my mind even at really high speeds, it's really fun to ride when your safety isn't in jepordy. I'm 49.5" wide now. On the tight trails it's still not a problem although I occationally have to be a little more cautious but no big deal even in th tight stuff. I have tight wooded, steep, hilly, off camber trails around my house here in Pa. I jeery rigged, the battery once, w/ just electrical tape so the connection came loose, I was by myself, the 4WD went out, my trails are 4wd only type, it started storming & I cursed ever using these small tires since I have NO ground clearance under the PRM axle plate. I had to lift, push, pull etc about 12 times. It really sucked. Other than that one time though, w/ 4wd, I hit everything w/ the skidplate & I'm over it & way past it before I even realize it. So it doesnt even slow me down. But the added handling is WELL worth it. It is 1.25" shorter w/ these tires now so it REALLY corners great now. I ride all the MX track in my area also so I was really interested in the handleing part of it. I kept the stock, thin, wire guard on the rad but the DG bumper protects agenst anything since it is so massive & wide. I plow through weeds, small trees, branches etc w/o any problems. The stock floorboards filled w/ snow in the winter, then froze solid so I was standing on to ice chunks & that was enough for me, I went home & cut them right off w/ my torch. Jack helped me out allot w/ this part. He's a great guy. Anyway it is very reliable, fast enough for me, handles great plus it's 4wd. I'm happy for now until a Raptor or my other friends DS blows my doors off but I wont go down easy.

Jim

What shocks you got up front. I see you are using PEP down back(ZPS, Low Mass or what)

Thanks

If you want to lose serious weight (for MX only) take off the 4wd. It weighs about 45 pounds I think.

Thejoka, I installed the new Works struts up front & they seem to have more travel & ride very nicely. I had PEP redo the stock rear shock it also works great although the MX track we went to last weekend to try out the new suspension was a joke, it wasn't a MX track at all even though it was advertised as such. We rode anyway for $10 but it wasn't worth it. Anyway the rear was only $230.

Hey Jim, are those extended a-arms? Does it take a little getting use to not having the floorboards there? Do you know if you can add nerfs? Do you have an extended swingarm or axle? If so does it help? I have a scrambler 400 also with a bunch of engine mods (about 60+ horse), but I still can't hit the big jumps. Can you jump bigger jumps with the different shocks? A lot of Q's, I know, but you got some great ideas

Kjsayers, I used spacers on the front & rear & since it's wider, there is more leverage on the handle bars when you hit something or over rough stuff so it wants to rip the bars out of your hands. Thats why I installed the Aaen steering dampner(the HPD adjustible one didn't work)so the dampner make it ride exactly like stock or even a little better over rough stuff & yes you can still steer as quickly as you want. The foot pegs are very sharp toothed plus theres 3" angled extenders on the ends so your foot is stuck & will not slip off the ends which is WAY more stable than w/ stock floorboards. Jack installed nerfs but I choose not to since they would hang up where I ride. I was going to install a lighter swingarm but I would keep the same length since I want the nose to be as light as possible since I jump allot. As we all know, by extending the swingarm it's harder to wheely or get the front end up. I dont wheely but want the front up when jumping. I havn't had a chance to try it on the MX track yet. I took it off my 4.5' to 5' high jump(not a table top jump)in my yard so I land maybe 6'vertically w/o any problems & the landing is very nice compared to stock. I'm too much of a chicken to hit it any faster. What engine mods did you do to get 60hp?
Thanks

Jim,
How much was the dampner? What was wrong with the HPD? Where did you get the pegs at? Did you leave the back piece of metal that held up the floorboards to attach the pegs to or what? Where did you get the spacers from? Do you have a stock steam? Is it loose because of the added pressure? As far as my quad I have a HPD pipe and aggressive clutch kit. Delta force reeds and 38mm carb. Cool head and port and polish the jug and a .20 wiseco piston. I usually run 104 octane in it. Some other little stuff but that is the jist of it. I can't see where you put the shifter and how you did it? Have you found any other ways to reduce the weight? I really appreciate all the great info.

Jim,
I thought you might like to see the way I lowered and tucked the stock lights on my 2000 scrambler. I used a peice of 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" angle iron turned down, and mounted it under the handle bar clamp. This moves the lights down and back and make for a much cleaner installation.

Scramblerdrew, looks like you do allot of night riding so I don't think you would have any problems at all riding at night thats for sure. I sent you by email of some pics from the Marienville trial of a quad that did the same thing w/ the lights except it's really muddy, is it you?
