Default 06 500 EFI**** Please help!!

I traded my 05 700 efi on a 06 500 efi last Friday. I asked them to run the 500 for awhile to make sure that it didn't need the resistor fix, because the dealer said they wouldn't fix it until it failed. They said they ran it and said it was fine, so I picked it up and brought it home. I ran it until the fan came on and the hot lamp came on and the fan wouldn't kick on. I shut it off and turned it back on and the fan came on. Ok, it needs the resistor update, no problem. I let it cool a little and took it out for a drive and it seems that the clutch isn't upshifting, because i'm running 25 miles per hour and the tach is running 5200 rpm's. I call the dealer and take it back on monday and they said they ordered parts and the parts should come in on tuesday, but it may be next week before it was done because they were busy and I told them I needed the quad on thursday for hunting and they said they would try to have it done. I call today and asked if they had time to look at it and they said it was done and I could pick it up and I asked him what was wrong with the clutch and they said that they couldn't find any wrong with it, but did a clutch alignment on it. Brought it home and ran it for awhile and the fan kicked on fine with no heat lamp, so they fixed that. Let it warm up for about a half hour and took it out for a drive and I was going 25 and the tach was reading 5200 rpm's. This cannot be normal, my 700 efi ran about 4200 rpm's at 25. Anybody that has a 05 or 06 500 could you please tell me what your machine is running for rpm's at 25 miles per hour and what the rev limiter is. My 700 was about 6200 rpm's, so i'm guessing it is about the same. Please help because im talking with the dealer in the morning beause im very upset. Thank you in advance for your responses.

Thanks for your response, but no i'm in high. I can run about 40 mph in high and i'm running about 6000 rpm's. I believe that something is binding in the clutches and not allowing it to upshift all the way. Correct me if i'm wrong, but it should be running about 60mph at 6000 rpm's. What is your opinions?

I had a very similar problem... my dealer told me there was nothing wrong with the clutch until i kept complaining... i had him put a new clutch on and walah worked just fine.... i had the dealer examine my bad clutch and it turned out to be some bearing inside

Well, I took my 500 back to dealer this morning and two machanics rode the machine and said that their was nothing wrong with it. At about 6700 rpm's the machine did about 53 mph. Does that sound about right or not. It is very cold here about -4 degree's farenheight, so that may have a little to do with it. The dealer showed me the service manual and apparently the 500's are geared way lower than the 700's. The dealer called Polaris and found out that the rev limiter on the new 06 500 efi's are about 7000 rpm's.

The top speed doesn't sound right or the gearing.

Thanks for your post, from what I read in your post, I don't think anything is wrong with my clutching. It sounds like we are fairly close in top speed and rpm's. I just thought that the clutching would be close with my 700, but it's not and that is ok. I just want to make sure my four wheeler is operating correctly and it sounds like it is. Thanks again.
