Default 2 stroke vs. 4 stroke

2 strokes are going to be history soon, mark my words. There are lots of good 2 strokes out there, be it bikes, quads, outboards, etc. . . It won't be long before it will be impossible to take your 2 stroke out of your own yard. Emmissions is what they call it. Trust me, nothing runs like a 2 stroke. You might as well double the cc size for equivilance to a 4 stroke as far potential hp (not torque). They are far from perfect or efficient, but they are simple, powerful, and effictive motors. What will motocross be without the 125cc class?

Thats not true about 2 strokes being history soon. There is now 2 strokes that burn cleaner than 4 strokes. Alot of outboard boat motors that are 2 strokes burn about 60% cleaner than a 4 stroke outboard. Its all about emissions. Any manufacturer can make a 2 stroke motor burn cleaner but it takes money. A 150hp outboard motor costs about 8-9k and people pay. If the 2 stroke manufacturer meets emissions then they will never go away.

yah Evinrude boats has that 2-stroke outboard engine that does better on gas then a 4-stroke, burns 70% cleaner then a 4-stroke, makes 250hp and meets all emission standards.

its some kind of new clean fire injection that they came up with

Please check out what they are doing in CA and some western and southern states with outboard motors. You will see a trend that can only lead to one place. . . I'm not against the 2 stroke (I LOVE EM) But legislation is getting passed that makes them illegal it some lakes. If you can outlaw and outbord motor, then it follows suit that you can do the same with any recreational vehicle.

Maybe Troyer23J can chime in on this, Ron on here has a full HPD race quad, this thing is quick. And it's a 400 Sport and it could not beat a Predator. This thing has had everything you can do to it...done to it. Doug Nicholas has a 4 second Pred, and I know Drag Banshees can run 4 Seconds also. So there you have a 4 stroke and a 2 stroke that can run the same times in 300 feet!

Please don't compare bikes to motors. And when a Predator puts out 76hp, I'll buy one.

LOL, that's the best you've got? I'm sorry but if you're looking for power output the TRX and LT 250R's have much more potential than a predator or any other current production 4 stroke atv has. Heck, the 2wd 400 scramblers can scream for not too many pennies, despite chassis design and weight disadvantages. I wouldnt have to touch a yamaha to beat just about every four stroke out there, especially if I had a built zilla lying around...

It has nothing to do with any type of bias, if you cant see the power, weight, and cost advantages of 2 strokes then you're just in denial. Now I wouldnt be choosing most of these bikes as trail machines, but that's another issue IMO, it all depends on what you're using them for. Of course, I dont think many of Nicholas' drag bikes are running the local trails.
