Default Is a 1995 Xplorer 400 4X4 GEN 2?

I am considering putting a winch on my '95 xplorer, but cannot figure out if it is considered GEN 2 or not. Some manufacturers lump it in with the '96 and up, others do not mention the '95. Does anyone know?

alwazmt, I also have a 95 xplorer 400 4x4. It is considered a gen IV. Last year I installed a ramsey 2500lb winch and wireless kit on it. Some minor intallation problems but it turned out fine. I can give you more info and pictures if you are still interested.

Could you post a picture of your winch? I'm just curious how it looks on the bike.

I have a winch on my 1995 Polaris 400 Xplorer 4x4... It came with it, and it has a big yellow handheld winch controller. I want to change it to a mini rocker, cause it is a bitch to activate with the buttons on it now. I will shoot a picture of my setup.

I just posted some pics of the xplorer after bumper and winch installation. You should be able to view them in the gallery under 'its2125' as soon as the moderators approve them - let me know what you think or have questions about the installation.

I've never opened my xplorer up fully. It accellerates well and I can spin the tires but I just typically ride on steep rocky trails in colorado. Also I don't have a death wish Once when I picked it up from the shop after having the top-end rebuit the mechanic that test drove it said he had it up to 60 on the back lot (I wasn't too pleased to hear about that). Of course this is just heresay, but I bet it would do 50 no problem.

Thanks for posting your pic's I'm just trying to decide how to run my plow for next year. We have a hand lift now and it's a pain to load it cause the plow is so low when it's raised. I'll probably install a winch like yours to lift the plow up higher.
