Default Scrambler water leak HELP

Okay I finally got all the parts back for the 400...I put everything together fired it up, and it was smoking white badly..so i shut it down...took the exhaust off, and noticed there was water in the cylinder...so i took the cylinder head back of and water was on top of the piston....You could see where water got in between the gasket and the head...so the question is..would a new gasket fix this, or could it be something else??

Default Scrambler water leak HELP

The original problem...I had a water leak, and kept running it, and and torched the motor...Yes i know my fualt...so we took it apart, and brought it to my neighbor which is an very experienced engine builder..(featured in muscle mustangs and fast fords) and he milled the head, and bored it enought for the next size bigger weisco. And when we put it together had the problems that I listed....This motor may just be headed your way rick...If A new head gasket doesn't fix it i am lost....Please help me i miss my scrammy

Default Scrambler water leak HELP

are there any marks on the top or bottom of the cylinder? the top by the head is the only place I could think of water getting through unless a water jacket was peirced i would have to guess gaskets.

Default Scrambler water leak HELP

have you checked the cylinder and head surfaces for flatness? Did you have a new gasket when you found it leaking?

Default Scrambler water leak HELP

Yes...I replaced all the gaskets, and the head and top of the cylinder were milled so they are perfectly flat...I just got done taking it back apart and gonna have the block magna fluxed, and head dye tested...there was also water on the bottom half on the engine...If anyone has any other suggestion...I need to get this thing on the trail...Thank you

Default Scrambler water leak HELP

is the oil contaminated?

maybe a bad water pump and crank seal, water from radiator into the oil and eventually the bottom end?

If I had to take a guess I would say that the cylinder and or head are not machined flat . No disrepect intended .
