I have a 98 Polaris 300 Explorer. It's got 1000 miles on it. Recently during a trail ride, it began to make a screech sound, but cleared up when I would bump the throttle up. We looked at it for about 30 minutes and decided to give it another try. This time it seemed to loose power, wouldn't idle and the screeching became more prominent. The bike will run and go along, but the noise still remains. I beleive I may have some major work ahead of me. I am trying to find a manual for this 4-wheeler. I do not live near a mechanic, so I need to find a book to help me diagnosis and fix whatever the problem may be. Any help would be appreciated.

It may be the starter if it occurs upon start-up.
