500 EFI OverHeating Problem
#1
Wanted to jump in on this topic. I had heard about the overheating light issue on this site. A fix has been put in place but there were still units in the showrooms that had the original issue. My dealer "had never heard of it and had never had one come back with a problem" I almost had to force him to look up the part number (I got form this site) for the fix. Sure enough....he said there was a documented issue and he ordered the part for all the 500 EFIs he had in stock. He wanted to know how I got the information since Polaris supposedly didn't properly notify the dealers. How come I (and we) can find this stuff and the folks that should be finding it somehow cannot? Anyway, based on the part that was on order and the fact that I 'needed' a new 4-wheeler so bad, I went ahead and purchased. Very predictably, after about 10 minutes of riding (in 40 degree weather) the HOT light came on. Luckily I was at the hunting spot by then so it didn't matter. Has not happened since but I guess this does prove that every early production 500 EFI does have this issue.
THANKS to everyone on this site for all of the helpful information. It has saved me and several other new 500 EFI owners some hassle.

This is a great forum for gathering information on the latest and sometimes not so greatest machines. The general public is the best resource for feedback, your dealer may want to log in and learn what the current issues are to keep on top of things.
