sorry to hear you are still having issues with stalling, but aside from that, how much better is the EFI when it comes to accelleration and throttle response? compared to the carb machine I mean...

It's EFI and shouldn't be "almost stalling" either.
I can't resist this one.

MT!

Isn't there a throttle stop adjustment somewhere? Wouldn't perhaps just a tweak on the proper screw prevent this stalling and near stalling? Can't you just bump it up and live with a little faster idle? What idle speed is the machine defaulting to?

I can't see the fuel pump being the issue, if it was it would be a problem throughout the operations.

It's hard to tell what the issue is, I could maybe seeing it related to the EBS and doing something when it stops, or maybe computer related that it isn't getting enough fuel at idle or when the engine is cold, hard telling, fuel problems are hard to toubleshoot.

My father-in-law's 06 500 EFI Sportsman has officially had it's first failure.

He's to be taking the unit into the dealer for their "fixing," but like I've read here on this forum, it's probably not going to be fixed in the NEAR future. I sure hope Polaris gets this ironed out soon...He loves this machine, and I doubt my dealer will do any better than any of the ones you folks have encountered.

I'll be watching this like a hawk...

Is his a 2006 500efi and what was the failure? Mine is still in the shop. Last time I checked it, the tires were worn from the mechanic driving it on the pavement. It just turned 20 hrs. Looks like I'll be stuck with a used atv.

Yeah...sorry I neglected to put that in there...fixed now.

Sounds like you've got a either a frantic mechanic working your problem like crazy, or he's having a blast riding it around the lot! If it's too bad...I'd force some compensation outta them...especially if they don't fix it. What have they said to you they've tried so far? How long have they had it?

I'm told it's now fixed...Service Dept said they found the problem to be the ETC. They said they adjusted it, and the problem was solved.

We'll see...I'm picking it up today...

I just got my quad back from the dealer, again. This time I was told the belt was off center and riding too close to one side. This may have been causing it to rub at just the wrong time, causing it to stall. The mechanic said he had to losen the engine mounts to line up the engine and the trans with the belt. He said now the belt rides in the center. I did notice while riding around in the parking lot of the dealer, that it didn't seem to dip in rpms when I stopped. I hope it's fixed now. Also with all the clutch/belt/engine alignments it seems to be nice and smooth, with minimal clunking. I haven't been able to really test it yet, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

redmtn,

Keep us posted on your latest fix, I'm taking mine out for the first time tomorrow to begin it's break in period. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't have any of the same troubles that you've had the misfortune to endure.
