I have a 05 Sportsman 500, I have been having trouble with my belt lately(on my 3rd one now) It is lacking power and top end. Lately when I drive it I can smell belt burning. When I put it in "N" and rev it up it hesitates between 3500-4000 RPM for half of a second then it revs up to where it should. It seems that when I am driving it won't rev up and this is why I am burnig belts? Why would this be? Is the secondary clutch not opening properly? Has anyone else had this problem?

 

it sounds like a clutch problem for sure.maybe dirty, worn out, out of line something not right there

Better to get the clutch fixed before you even think about bigger tires!!!!

 

You have a 05 Sportsman and it on its third belt and has clutch problems? WOW. I would call Polaris and tell them to fix it.
