Default Warn express wiring.

Hi guys.

I found a heck of a deal on a Warn 3.0xt and mounting kit. I am sure that it does not have the Polaris Warn Express Wiring System. How big of a deal is this? I am mechanically inclined but have never mounted a winch before. Also, where did you all splice into the electrical system to mount your winches?

I've mounted winches on Polaris, yamaha, kawi and suzuki's. Polaris was the biggest pain in the butt!!!!
The only wire that gets spliced into the harness in the red one coming off of the switch wire bundle. Splice it into a switched hot wire. Usually I use the accessory plug hot wire.

Is your 05 800 prewired? Does the winch you found come with a solenoid? My 06 800 was pre wired so I did not use the wires that came with my warn 3.0 kit. I purchased the polaris 3.0 kit on ebay from breese lawn and garden for 385.00. Then bought the 2005 mount for another 39.00. Good luck with your purchase and install.
