I'm not having any problems with my 500 EFI. I did buy mine after hearing of the problems folks have been having. I only have 3 miles on mine as I've only had it for about a week, but no false hot indicators and no stalling. I have looked at the exhaust and my heat shroud isn't touching the fender but I think some extra heat tape on the fender is probably a good idea as it's only about 1/4" away. Mine is a little hard to shift out of Park but at this point I'm leaning that more towards it being new and not used that much, other than that it's been good. I knew it might have issues but with the three year warranty I jumped. I'll check my production date as I don't know that off hand as well.

But the EFI is nice for starting and it's a smooth running machine.

I have 1069 miles on mine and it was built on 10/10/05.. Not sure what significance of the build date? When my display flashed "HOT" it never was hot!!! It was a false reading, the fix was like 10 min. and in fact was never unloaded from my truck.. Have not had a single issue with it since then..

well it has been 3wks and mines is still in the shop. i have made countless calls to the dealer and he keep saying anyday. then i call polaris and they keep saying anyday. so by next friday i am going to ask them to buy it back .
reasons for in the shop

1 stalling ( this why i took it to the shop)

2 the fan fix( the dealer told me that the new harrnes from the fan fix will fix the stalling.)]
we will see.

hey, I love my Polaris and the company has some great ideas and machines, but this kind of thing is ridiculous. we need some sort of consumers group that will back us up in these types of situations, an organization that Polaris and the others will be afraid of, there needs to be some sort of a checks and balances system put in place. we already know that Polaris isn't concerned about quality dealerships and customer service so it's up to us to find some sort of support group for the consumer that will fight these battles for us. I have heard it myself first hand from Polaris both in writing and over the phone that each dealership is individually owned therefore has their own way of doing things, in other words, "Thanks for your purchase, now go away!" I'm so sick of hearing stories about you guys getting the run around for both the dealer and Polaris, very discouraging!

I better have another cup of coffee!

If they're giving you problems, try Chickasaw Equipment in Houston (45 minute drive rather than 20 minute drive). Just a thought. They have a good, knowledgeable crew.

Exactly, Zerowick; I made my final choice of the SP700EFI over the 500EFI mainly due to the power to weight factor ( app. 200cc more displacement for the700 with only slightly more weight than the 500.) and the fact there seems to be some unresolved issues on both the 500EFI and the 800's. From what I've seen, heard and experienced so far, the 700EFI seems to be the best pick at this time. (Slightly less weight than the 800 and less than 100cc difference in engine size.) The decision was an easy one for me, and so far I have been well pleased. It does seem that the problems with the 500EFI and 800's are either being resolved or are only showing in certain parts of the country as both dealers and owners of these units that I have talked and ridden with haven't had any such problems yet. If the fellow that started the post on this needs power and doesn't ride in such technical tight areas where that extra power will continually get him in trouble then it would seem the 700EFI or 800 would be his best logical choice as they are all pretty close in both size and weight with engine size and power being the bigger difference between the three.(500,700,800) Good luck on your decision.
