Default Ooops, I rolled her over! questions!!

Iv had better days before ladies and gents!! I flipped over backwards going up a hill, got pummeled by my bike, then it landed on all 4's but the throttle cable was bent so it took off up the hill in AWD, unmanned (at full throttle). Man, its was throwing dirt and sticks and ramping downed trees (i was in clear cut going up a mountian), It was kinda cool to watch!!! LOL. Finally it hit a tree and turned over on its side. i finally caught up to it and cut it off. WOW!! luckily, i didnt get hurt to bad, it landed on my head but somehow all i got was a black eye and a few cuts on my forehead and elsewhere on my body. Im sure ill be sore in the morning though.

Questions: from what i can tell i busted the highbeam globe, cracked the bottom casing of the headlight pod, broke both brackets on the handle bars (left side and right), cracked on the front right side (all the way from the top of the shock to the frame where the brushguard mounts (man do i wish i had insurance on this bike). i can fix most of it with a soddering gun but i bent the part the handel bars are bolted to (not sure of the correct name for this part). Its pretty heavy duty and im not sure if i can bend it back. The pics are pending approval and should appear shortly. Check them out and tell me what you guys think. Id like to try and fix everything myself ($,$$$)

Wow AuburnGrad, I don't know much about repairing these things,YET, but glad you weren't hurt further. When I transitioned from snowmobiles to atv the first thing I learned was move and sit well forward when traveling up the hill. On snowmobiles you slide back to help the track bite into the snow. Be careful and stay well, jlewis

Sorry to hear about your crash. Thank god you're ok. When you put the pictures of your ATV up, lets see what your helmet looks like too, must have smashed it up pretty bad. I've had that oh $#!? feeling several times, just lucky I haven't looped it. I hope you get your ATV up and running soon.

Thanks cutty, u may have saved me alot of money.

So from the looks of it, i need new handle bars (or is it supposed to have the shape of the ones in my pics?). And see how the handle bars are not in the center of the tank and kindof lop-sided, does that mean i need a new steering shaft? Last question, on pic 6, i broke the bracket that mounts the hand brake and cylinder to the handle bars. Will i have to replace the entire cylinder b/c it looks like one solid unit?

a helmet is a must, if you were wearing one, you wouldent have that black eye right now or any other bruises or scratches to your head! helmets can be expensive (up to $400 for really nice ones) but its fantastic preventative maintnance to your noggin, and you can get some SICK paintjobs. check out the Troy Lee Designs helmets, best you can buy, most expensive aswell.

glad to see your ok, i can only imagine what your ghost quad looked like, maybe thats your new name for it, ghost

yah AudburnGrad u need new handle bars, its pretty much impossible to straighten those, when my cousins boyfriend rolled my 500 ho and after i almost killed him i had to fix 1500 dollars worth of cosmetics (front and rear racks, all new plastics, new floor boards, handle bars, throttle housing, seat, two mirrors, front end, rear rack mount and a whip entena)and the handle bars were bent like yours and i couldnt even think of bending them back. yes it looks like you bent your steering rod and you need a new one, but it might be something else bent. Good thing your ok, the guy who flipped my bike was going 50 mph up a hill and was air borne when he hit the top of the hill and it landed on its side and rolled prolly 6 times, he was okay but not after i was threw with him. But i got all new plastics on my 500 and soon the guy should pay me back after he sells his truck. Have fun

Check ALL your fluid levels as they could have leaked out of the breather hoses or become contaminated.
