Default engine problems

I have a Sp 500ho and everytime I gas it the engine boggs down and almost sounds like it backfires a little so I can't go over about 5mph. I just took apart the carb and gave it a good cleaning and now I can go about 7mph. Any other ideas of what could be wrong?

a ripped up belt might do it too, a clogged muffler (carbon) might do it aswell, there is a bolt (half inch i think) on the bottom right side of your muffler, its probebly rusted on, but break it free, take it off, start your bike up and rev your motor up as high as it'll go and it should shoot out a but load of carbonized powder. might take care of it.
