Ok here is the skinny on your question. If you have a 4 stroke you DONT need to match the pipe with clutch kit because a 4 stroke has a very wide power band so you can change the clutching to suit your riding needs. A 2 stroke has a very narrow power band and the clutch needs to work at its best in this power range. 2 stokes are alot harder to tune to get the best performance out of your pipe. You want it to pull hard and fast while in the powerband but if your clutching is too slow or too fast you will miss the powerband.

Since you have a 500 then the best thing you can do for performance is change your primary spring. I recommend the EPI pink or maroon primary spring. These will make it pull harder and faster throughout the whole powerband. You need to figure out where you want your performance to be at its best and figure out what spring you want. The pink and maroon are the middle of the road with the maroon being a little more agressive on take off.

2many is right onthe money on his anserw. But to get the most out of clutching on a 4stroke you need to know what you are wanting and use a tach to fine tune it.Ussually a clutch kit with a higher rate primary spring and heavier weights and stifer secdary will get you the biggest emprovement. But if you just want a little bang a spring change is ok.
