Polaris spacers, what the ??????
I bought 2 sets of Polaris spacers for my Sportsman 800 so that my front end didn't sag so much when my plow is on. The instructions say u have to spray them with soapy water to get them in. My springs have so much space they just slide in and I'm not sure they won't fall out. I put one all the way at the top of the front springs and one in the middle. Is this correct or is it trial and error? I know Polaris says put them in the middle, but it did nothing. What gives?

from what I have heard around here those spacers are junk and do very little. silverbullet2005 makes his own, he may be able to help you. uses aluminum pipe to raise the spring 1" to 2" like an oversized washer between bottom of spring and strut. some use electrical conduit. stay tuned, someone will chime in.

I've got some spacers made by Daystar on my ford ranger. mine went on top of the spring. I've seen pics of both top and bottom spacers, but think the top would be MUCH better due to the 0% loss in suspension travel. Once these babies get installed, I doubt anyone's gonna want to remove them (another reason to go topside). I can't decide whether or not to go with the spacer idea, or go with the HD spring kit from highlifter.

The other posts refer to spacers that you install either above or below the springs, thereby preloading the springs.

The "rubber" spacers do help with the compression of the springs when you add weight to the front, especially when plowing. If you are looking for a lift, get some 2" conduit (pipe) and cut your self some spacers. I cut 1 1/2 spacers for the front of mine. This helped level out my quad (pre 05 sat higher in the rear and lower in the front). I put them in pretty easily with Sportsman70003's help. HE is the man...anyways. I have the spacers and the rubber spacers. I gained an overall clearance of about 1 inch when the plow is lifted. I have the rubber ones more towards the top of the springs. I have mine zip tied in since I have lost 2 pairs riding. I am happy with the setup...

Anyway, to answer your question, I'm not really certain. After I parroted what someone else told me recently, I got to thinking, and it didn't really make sense to me either. As I recall, the person who told me had more experience with it than I did, so I didn't really think about the mechanics of idea.

Look at my pics. You can buy them on line for around 50.00 or make them yourself ot of 2" heavy duty electrical conduit.(Not the pipe itself. you need the union that would join the two peices together. it is 2" tall and threaded on the inside. and GALVANIZED). PM me if you want instructions.
ya this only costs 6.00 for both and will take about 30 min to do...
