Default '05 700 EFI- No electrical power

As luck would have it my friends new 700 has absolutely no power when he turns on the key to start it. We leave in 3 days for Northern Maine to go ice fishing and because there is next to no snow we planned on using the ATV's. He rode it last week without a problem, he went out yesterday and no juice at all. The speedo pod does'nt light up and the fuel pump does'nt cycle on either. Checked the battery it has plenty of juice, Is there a fuse or something inline with the power lead to interrupt or trip the power from the battery. Maybe a ground issue? Anybody with some feedback would be appreciated

i would think ifyour sure your battery is fine, there must be loose connection between the starter and beyond or there might be a circuit breaker/fuse that is interupping the power.

First of all, if it’s new I’d return it to the dealer and have them figure it out. But yeah I know, that would be easier if you could start it. I don’t know how you “checked the battery” but it sure sounds like yours is dead. Check the battery cable connections and connections at the solenoid and chassis ground. Try jumping it with one of the portable battery packs if you have one. Try wiggling the key around in the ignition switch in case the contacts inside the switch are bad.

He said he charged it overnight and and tried to jump it with a regular battery without success. I will talk with him tonight and convey what you folkes suggested. Let you know tomorrow

On my 03 700 there was a fusible link coming right off battery, 20 amp. Looked like a wire with a small bulge in it. Went I believe to the rectifier up front. When mine went out all was dead like had no battery.

You may try taking the headlight pod off and checking the connection behind the switch. Also, check to make sure the connectors going into your headlight/revoverride/killswitch box on your handle bars are secure.

Try a load test on the battery. I had one with a broken post. It show 12 volts untill I put a load on it and it acted like a loose battery cable. Lead batteries can't take a lot abuse.
