Default 250 Trailboss, difficult to shift

I'm having a tough time shifting my 95' 250 Trailboss into forward. I have to really push the lever forward hard, to the point where it feels like it may be bending the linkage, to get into gear. I've tried adjusting the forward/nuetral/reverse lever, but then I can't shift into reverse. Is there any other adjustment for this?

Don't let the hp numbers fool you. Its all in how you get it to the ground. Clutching clutching clutching!

THe "bellcrank" that the shiftrod hooks into could be stripped on the tranny.
