I've seen in here that guys have put the same size wheels front and back on Scramblers and report no ill effects. The other day I met a guy on the trail w a Sportsman that had 27" on back and 26" on the front, He likes the way it looks. He told me that he's had it that way for a year, and his 4x4 works fine. Now my understanding was you had to keep the ratio the same. Am I wrong? let me know how this works. thanks

an inch won't make a difference any way, since its only really a half inch variation. The smaaler tires will spin a little faster, but no big deal on dirt or in mud when there spinning any way. Unless he rides on pavement in four wheel drive where the wheels can't slip at all, that might do damage after a while. Besides, any set of tires has a difference in size anyway. No four tires are the same!!

Fasternu it is not only a half inch. The formula for circumference is pi(d) or 2pi(r). The diameter is getting multiplied by 3.1416.... so it is really a diffence of 3 inches per rev roughly.

I realy don't know if he had a lift kit, we never got off our wheelers, just stoped in passing and I noticed the defferance in tread patterens, then the back just looked bigger, so I asked. he said 27" rear and 26" front. Thinking about it there didn't seam to be much travel left, maybe 3 or 4". But he was fat.

On a polaris it shouldn't matter because the front tires wont spin till the back ones do and ounce they are spinning it doesn't but i dont think id be trying that on a full time 4x4
