foot lever on my 800??
Your footlever has nothing to do with shifting into part. On the new machines you do not have to push on the foot lever to get into park. My machine had 130 miles on it and it is still somewhat difficult to shift into part. Just touch the throttle a little and it will shift in.

What IdahoSP says is true if you have an 06..On an 05 like I have the foot brake must be depressed to shift it into park. There was a post about the pawl on the footbrake not fully retracting causing hard shifting into park when depressed but mine is hard shifting and the pawl seems fine. Check yours and see.

foot lever on my 800??
Do you guys know if it would be possible / practical to cut or otherwise remove / modify the pawl that prevents going into HIGH without stepping on the brake but leave the pawl that prevents going into PARK without stepping on the brake (assuming there are two)? I haven’t had it apart but it seems doable in theory. I kind’a like having a positive stop at reverse when I pull back on the shifter but stepping on the brake to get into high is tedious.
