A nail and slime
#1
I noticed last week I had a nail in one of my rear tires. Question: Since I have Slime in there should I let the nail stay there or pull it and replace it with a plug? Tire isn't losing any air.

Pull the nail and put in a plug.
I got a big 3 inch nail down at spurgeon a few years back on one of the haul roads and I noticed this when I saw the green stuff, wet area on the tire when I stopped so I left it in till I got home and then I pulled the nail and did what ftwflh suggested and it had held ever since.

I've not had it work. a buddy has a YFZ with a hole in a sidewall on the right rear, and that slime won't fix that hole. it'll hold air, but when you subject it to the weight of the machine, it won't hold up. Either plug or patch from the inside. there's also the possibility of innertubes if it can't be fixed any other way.

It depends where the puncture is. Mine was on the side wall and the tire fix it place said they couldnt put a plug in it. Didnt make since to me. I understand if it was on my truck and alot more weight would be on it, but dang we was talking about an atv that with me on it would only weight around 750 pounds. Anyway I put slime in it and went on. Some people say slime will cause the tire to bounce. But for me so does all the rocks and washed out roads on the trail. Go with the slime. Oh and dont put it in there until your able to ride. That slime needs to get slung all over the tire to even it out.

Slime works on cintrifical force. That being said and probably misspelled. if you read the directions for installing it: it says to put the proper amount in the tire and then fill with air, the. imediatly drive for 1-3 miles so that it can smooth it self out and dry. The motion causes it to only stick to the tread not the side wall. I have 4 plugs in my rear side wall and it is working. 90% of atv flats is when the sidewall tears... pull it and plug it..

i've used slime in 2 differnt wheelers and it does work good for up to 1/4 holes w/ the right amount in the tires. atv tires take alot more slime then most other vechicals because of the slow wheel speed they go. at least thats what im lead to beleave. as far as changing the tire after you have slime in the tire, get ready for a hell of a mess and have alot of ragson hand to wipe it down wife after.
