Where do you put the transmission oil in?
#1
I just got a 1997 xplorer 500 4x4. I see the dip stick and I found the drain plug...... Do you put the oil in the dip stick hole? I hope that is not a stupid question. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Also, are the engine oil and the transmission fluid the only fluids other than antifreeze and gas I have to know about.

I belive it is, I know on my 02 sportsman you fill it up in the dipstick hole, use a small funnel.
Maybe someone can tell you for sure but mine I have to put oil in the front hubs. Grease all fittings, check the u joints for fittings as well. Front diff should take fluid as well.

Preach...the trans oil goes through the dip stick hole...Your front differential (where the front axles connect) uses 89-90 gear oil (I use mobil one syn)your front hubsuse Polaris DEMAND DRIVE HUB FLUID...There is a drain plug on both hubs (Take out with allen wrench) fill to about 4 0'clock...BY the way Polaris only made the Explorer 500 one year...1997
