Default waterpump or head gasket leaking?

I am in the process of pulling apart the top end of my 95 xplorer 400 due to coolant in the oil and it someone mentioned that it may be my water pump instead of the head gasket. I don't think I have to pull the top end of the engine apart to get at the water pump, so I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to tell the difference. Here's what happened:

I had been riding when I noticed that my quad was drastically loosing power. It then started to overheat (light came on) even though the fan was running, and then it finally stalled and refused to start for a couple of hours. I finally got it started and limped back to my truck where it died and hasn't started since. It was getting plenty of spark, so I started pulling apart the carb, which seemed fine and then checked the reeds, and they were fine. But I noticed that there was coolant in the reed cage. I checked, and it was coming in from the oil injection line coming from the rear of the block. The input injection line seems to be fine, and there is no coolant in the oil reservior.

I assumed it was either the upper or lower head gasket, so I started pulling it apart. I got the top cover off, and the top gasket was fine except for a little bubbling of the rubber around the bolt holes. The meatl was fine though. The piston and chamber are actually in great shape, no marring of any kind. So I thought that it was the lower gasket, and before I could get to it someone said that it could be from one of the seals in the waterpump. I've found the diagrams with it, but is there any way to test so I know for sure where the problem is? Wouldn't the coolant leak onto the ground and not into the engine though?

I don't feel like doing more work than I need to, and time is getting short before I need this thing up and running as quickly and inexpensivly (translation, I'm broke) as possible. I'm just really lost at this point, so I need all the help I can get. Thanks.

Default waterpump or head gasket leaking?

Forgot to ask, if coolant is getting into the oil at the injector, would it be easier to just put an injector block in, run premix and then not worry about the leaking seal, or am I missing something? ANd again, I have to know where exactly the problem is. I'm almost guessing here, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

yeah, thats what I figured. When I figured that out I thought it was one of the head gaskets. So I started tearing it apart, and when I got stuck on the lower 4 bolts someone on a post here said that it may be coming in from the water pump area, so I'm trying to figure out now if I need to keep going on the head or not. Plus I don't want to do all this work and have it be something esle.

Ok, I know that its happening in the block. The hose where the oil goes into the block is fine, just oil. But when it comes out of the block and goes to the reed cage its full of oil. So now I'm thinking that it can't be from a head gasket right? How would it get into that hose? Am I thinking this through right?
