Default Help - Gear selector fluid

I am in the middle of replacing my '95 Xplorer gear selector with a gear selector off of a 96 Xplorer because of a broken electrical switch. I thought I could just replace the switch, but it seems that the 95 and 96 switches are way different. The '95 switch is a plastic piece of #$%#$. Anyways, the gear selector form the '96 has no fluid in it since I opened it. I am going to go ahead and replace the whole selector. What is the fluid in the gear selector?

Thanks,

Jim

Just take the plastic panel where the gear shifter is and remove 4 screws on top of the shifter box. Be careful a couple of years ago I checked mine and when I put it back together I didn't have to use the reverse override button. I also lost the nuetral and reverse lights on the dash.
