Default scrambler clutch spring

ok so i had to get a new clutch because i was rippin belts apart within an hour of riding. the guy at the dealer said it was because the spring i had in there was way to strong and causing it to wear quickly. i had a black spring in there and he put a white (stock) spring in. my question is what spring would be the best to have with what ive got

Don't let the hp numbers fool you. Its all in how you get it to the ground. Clutching clutching clutching!

Since you have an Aaen pipe you need to go with the Aaen springs too.Get you a Aaen green primary spring and blue secondary spring.
PS you dealer is full of it.A spring wont make you shead belts.Bad sheaves or buttons or bushings could.

An AAEN spring would be best, although HPD has a large supply of springs for piped 400's also. I'm running the HPD red/yellow primary and lavender secondary and am very happy with it.

thanks guys. the guy at the dealer said that because the spring is so stiff it wore the clutch out unevenly which caused the belts to shread.

ill give aaen a call before i head down to the dunes for sure

Wear and use cause the clutch to wear. They always wear the most down low on the ramps cause thats where the belt goes from not engaged to making the bike move when it engages. He's an idiot. Rick Ritter has spring charts and knows what spring will work as well and save you some money over the AAEN spring. The AAEN lady/cust no service rep is also very rude when I try to buy anything there. I'd spend my money elsewhere.
