I have a 02 Polaris 500 HO and all iv did was ride it. From the start its had a ticking noise when i bought it brand new. I have friends that have same atv and theres ticks to. At idle its like tick tick tick but when i apply the throttle it goes away. Do you think i should try to readjust the valves or just ride it? It runs fine.

 

i had 1200 miles on my 02 before i traded it and never had the valves adjusted. not sure how many miles on yours

 

i dont know myself the hall sensor on front wheel stoped working so speedo quit. All iv did was keep my oils/fluids changed. Never even put a spark plug in it.

 

just speaking for myself, if its not ticking that bad i wouldnt adjust it, but you could always ask a dealer what they think.

 

I believe i just read a post on this with somone who bought two 400 scramblers and he said they both make that noise and it was normal. BTW mine is only three months old and it make the same noise your talking about ( sounds like it behind the pull start?). Damn i wish i could remember where i saw it!
