I have a 99 scrambler 500 4X4 to tinker with .I rarely mess with repairs , but I aggreed to replace a ripped front CV boot . I understand that a circlip is on the end of the drive shaft , my local dealer says the process to pull it from the hub is a very forceful *just yank on it * method . If that does not work they tell me to put a portapower to force it out . I do not have a current manual from this year , but I would buy one , but I think you guys could tell me what I need to know . I just need to get this job done.
To remove the drive shaft from the hub is it really a hard pull to compress the circlip to get it through the splines?
If not , please let me know if you please .

Rick: There is a circlip holding it in the spline. You just give it a sharp pull to remove it. If it is stuborn use a soft mallet and tap the CV joint util it comes loose. Some times you have to get a little phyisical with it.

Do you know where to get a Polaris service manual for a 99 400 Xplorer? I talked to my local dealer and they don't care to sell one. I don't know why. Is it a company thing, or just the dealer. Anyway, do you know the part # or where I could order one? Thanks in advance.
